I'm 30 if that makes any difference?

I might be having a bad taste moment with the one below but surely dressing like a peacock is a good thing?!

These are all on ASOS and most under £20. I’m not too hot on what the etiquette is for wedding attire but they look pretty smart to me

I recommend Joanie or lindybop. Good value and quality and the 50s cuts are very flattering on curvy bods.

MadamGrumps · 29/04/2018 13:38

I'm not used to all this dressing up malarkey. Thank you for the suggestions I like some of them though would like my knees hidden!

First dress is nice and you’ve had lots of other suggestions. I’m sure you will look lovely, whichever you choose. Hope you have a great time!

MadamGrumps · 29/04/2018 17:48

Thank you for all your help everyone.

How about this one? It’s has a black background so you could still wear your black shoes but the flowers make it a bit more weddingy.

The model is 5’9” so if you’re a more average height then it should cover your knees.
And it’s only £17.50.

MadamGrumps · 30/04/2018 09:03

@BigFatBloomers do u have a link?!

I like the sound of £17.50!

TNoone · 30/04/2018 10:17

It's possibly not an option but have you thought of renting a dress (or even charity shop?). Both options take more time but you wouldn't have a dress that you don't really like in your wardrobe after.

TellyCushion · 30/04/2018 10:46

OP, I'm the same size as you, and going for head to toe pattern makes us look like a curtain/sail and makes busts look even bigger. There's some good options posted by other PP's though!

MadamGrumps · 01/05/2018 18:40

Right Ive decided knees are non negotiable! I've narrowed it down to 2 dresses, one is more weddingy and the other is not as weddingy but an inch longer and will feel a lot more comfortable... not sure if I should go for comfort or a prettier dress Grin

OP posts:
BigFatBloomers · 01/05/2018 19:54

Can we see the options?

I’d always go for the one that you feel happier in. Nothing worse than not being able to relax because of what you’re wearing or having to pull it down all the time.

Shedmicehugh1 · 01/05/2018 21:25

Oh yes need to see options please!

Definitely what you feel more comfortable in. I think comfort should come first, nothing worse than feeling self conscious all day/night! Hopefully with a touch of prettier too!

I actually like the first! And feeling comfortable oozes confidence, rather than keep hitching down your dress!

Feeling comfortable, having fun, chatting, being yourself etc is far ‘prettier’ than any dress!

JesusTapdancingChrist · 01/05/2018 22:11

I agree with Shed. The first one is lovely, meets your criteria and looks comfortable and like it would be really flattering. Second one screams 'wedding guest' a bit loudly for my taste.

Your accessories sound lovely. Maybe a bright lipstick to add a bit of colour?

MadamGrumps · 01/05/2018 22:16

Oh yay!!

That's such a relief to hear, I thought I was going to be told it was crap and I should keep looking!
