3yo Strawberry Allergy/Intolerance

Hi all!
Just looking for a bit of advice. My DS has a strawberry allergy/intolerance which we discovered when he was about 18 months old when he had a strawberry yogurt for the first time. It was a bit difficult to tell exactly what his symptoms were because he was too young to tell us but it seemed to start with a bad tummy ache followed by a high fever and vomiting. We ended up taking him to hospital because we were concerned it could be his appendix, and he was kept in for dehydration but he was fine again within 48 hours. Anyway, the doctor said at the time that it was likely something he would grow out of and to try him with strawberries again in a couple of years. He’s now nearly 4 and a thread I was reading last night got me thinking about it again, it’s still his Easter holidays so he would have 4 days to recover if the worst did happen. Do you think I should try strawberries again today at lunch time? I really don’t want to make him sick (emetophobe here so last time I had a complete breakdown - it’s the only time he’s ever been sick) but I also don’t want to carry on avoiding a food that might now be fine. So what would you do? Please help!
Thank you xx

My DD has a strawberry allergy/intolerance between the ages of 1-7; hers presented in a rash as opposed to sickness though! I was never brave enough to risk it deliberately but she used to seek out strawberries at parties etc so tested herself!

She's 10 now and can eat strawberries with no problems although I still hate watching her just in case!

Thank you for the reply @crisscross
It’s good to know that it’s hopefully something he will grow out of. I wasn’t quite brave enough to try it yesterday, I might wait a few weeks until the summer holidays!
