Moving to the UK

My scandivian SIL, husband and 2 DC- 8&10 are relocating to the UK. BIL will be working neat Victoria Station in London so they’re looking to move to somewhere within easy commuting distance of max 1 hour?
Where should they be looking (renting to start with) and if you live in Surrey or Kent why do you love where you live? Are there any places to avoid?
Their son is an avid gymnast and daughter loves riding. I’m trying to help them from deepest darkest Essex, which I know but I’m clueless about Surrey or Kent!

Redhill is up and coming (Zone 6 I believe). Lots of development going on there. Guildford is lovely. Haslemere too - within an hour. All good for riding I would think. Don't know about gymnastics.

You might get more answers in the "London's" section. Do they want their kids to go to particular type of school? I think the Swedish school is in Barnes which is lovely. No tube but the overground goes into Waterloo. They could look at Richmond, Hammersmith, Chiswick
