Government petition - paternity leave changes

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I'm trying to get support for my government petition to amend current paternity legislation.

I want the government to increase paternity leave to 3 months, to be more in line with maternity pay. This would give families greater flexibility during the first few months of the child's life.

So you're proposing fathers get three months off on full pay, when SMP for mothers is currently only 90% for six weeks and then £140 a week........!?!?

I agree parental leave entitlements should be improved and fathers encouraged to take more leave but I can't support a petition that asks that fathers get more than mothers.......
