I'm not sure I've done it right. Can anyone help me and tell me how I know for sure? I'm really rubbish at technology. Thank you.

I think it takes a month to shit down completely

I signed up have no friends just for the groups, buy selling scouts etc as very little info elsewhere

Can you do that instead?

Can you ever really shut down Facebook? I have friends who regularly say they have quit Facebook, and their account shows as deactivated in my friends list, but then they pop up again a month or so later with the exact same account. I think if you resign in, it reactivates it?
I have thought about deactivating my account, but then I can't monitor what pictures my family posts of me, or tell my mother to tighten up her security settings and stop re-sharing random crap and making friends with strangers.

You can log back onto a deactivated account and pick up where you left off at any time.

You need to delete the account completely if you want it to disappear.

You can deactivate your account but if you log back on, it will be like you never went away. Or, you can perminantly delete your account. There's a few weeks buffer in case you change your mind (if you log in again within the buffer period, it won't delete) Facebook claims your account will be permanently deleted and wiped. If you want a new account you'd have to sign up and start again.

I deactivated my account this week, no intention of activating it again but couldn't face perminantly deleting it as there are hundreds of pictures on my profile from 10+ years ago that, one day, I might like to see again.
