Hi everyone.
I'm looking for some advice on starting a career in law. I have been temping getting office experience and just recently finished a 3 month usher role in magistrates court. I have also completed the ILSPA course last year.
The problem is I cannot seem to get my foot in the door of any legal firm, I have sent my cv to nearly every recruiter agency in London/Essex along with applying for full time positions but in 6months> I have not heard one thing. It's very frustrating as I paid a lot for my diploma. Does anyone have any advice or even know if any openings in the London (central) Essex areas?

Hiya
I know it’s hard as I have worked in law all of my career so far (am 30 now). I also live in London. I would advise trying to get into London instead of Essex as for a train ride the salary goes up so much. Persistence is key though. I usually go onto the law society website and literally apply to every law firm one after another. I also copy into the email the senior partner or head of department in the area you want to work in (property for example) as they may take more of an interest than the receptionist who may not pass the email on. Good luck !
