Separate duvets

I know this is a silly problem and a question but it's causing a huge issue in our marriage Grin. I love cuddling into my duvet at night, wrap myself in it completely, I hate sharing a one big duvet! I always feel cold as the cold air gets in if there's a gap between us, it's horrible. So I suggested to my DH that we could get separate duvets, I thought it was a brilliant solution but he doesn't Confused he loves to have one big one that we share. We done a trial with two duvets and he thought it was a disaster basically, he hates having his duvet getting too wrapped around him. So complete opposite to what I like Confused. What would you do? Suck it up or still try convincing him, what's the solution here??

I'm the same I use a thick blanket/throw wrapped around me then the quilt on top like normal

Why does his individual duvet get wrapped round him? Why can’t he just lay his duvet on top of him?

What about you having a sleeping bag (a low tog one) and then put the duvet over both of you?

What about an extra massive duvet? We have a super king size one that we can both wrap ourselves in and there’s so much of it that there’s no gap for cold to get in

We had separate duvets within 3 weeks of moving in together. 5 years later it’s still a thing I am incredibly grateful I went ahead and did anyway. Do it, you won’t regret it Smile

He needs to sort his own duvet out. DH and I have done this..,he wraps up like a cocoon and I throw mine around. Your DH can do what he likes - no need to be wrapped up.

sillyoldwitch · 01/03/2018 21:21

I've no idea how he gets wrapped in it lol, probably while throwing a tantrum Grin.
We already have a superking sized duvet but our bed is also superking so the duvet is not big enough... I might try having my own duvet and then having the huge one over us.

two duvets, a thin single for you to wrap up in and the normal big one over the top?

forgottenusername · 01/03/2018 21:23

cross post! I must type too slowly...

We have a joint duvet, which is too thin for me, and DH likes to wear below his shoulders. The gap between us freezes me, and i can wrap it round me properly.
So I put a single duvet on as well, right up to my neck!

DonaldWeasley · 01/03/2018 21:35

We used to have two king size duvets that we’d either share or wrap ourselves in depending!

sillyoldwitch · 01/03/2018 23:50

I'm going to try a single duvet tonight with our superking on top. Hopefully this will solve the problem! If not then I think DH will just have to figure it out himself as I need my own duvet!
