Food Faux Pas

Many years ago I went to stay with OH aunt in her big house in Kent. I am Northern working class, his family distinctly upper middle. Aunt served pheasant with crisps (wtf is this I muttered to OH who gave me a bollocking as they were 'game chips')... I was very discreet at the table but when I went in the kitchen there was a family packet of ready salted crisps... so much for game chips! Anyone else experienced this or similar?

I did this for Xmas years ago, trying to impress my new mother in law.

The recipe showed me how to make the game chips. The whole time I was messing about I was thinking I should just buy kettle chips Grin
