A move to County Durham

My other half and I will be relocating to the Durham area with our two small daughters around April or May as my work will be moving to Bishop Auckland. We are aiming to rent so would really appreciate thoughts and suggestions from anyone who can tell us where good areas to live would be that are:

A) Not too far from my work
B) Has good transport links
C) Has a good first school within a reasonable walking distance
D) Rent not too high (3 bed house, no more than £650, ideally)

Any thoughts and help would be welcome!

How far is not too far from your work?
What do you class as good transport links? Would you be totally reliant on Public Transport?
Is safety' of the area important to you?
Intrigued to know what your job is that's moving to BA? Smile

You will be able to get all that in bishop auckland. Transport links to Shildon and Darlington are really good too. If you are in the centre of bishop the railway is an option as both darlington and shildon are connected to bishop by rail.

Not sure on schools in bishop or shildon, darlington has a lot of good primary's but secondary's are a little poor at the moment with even the 2nd/3rd Best falling into RI recently.
