Morning,
I’m after some advice about my 5 year old son. Yesterday he said he felt icky and had stomach ache and then he had diarrhoea, but it was only the once.
He says he still has stomach ache this morning but has not had an upset stomach since.
The school website says 24 hours since last bout in the case of a stomach bug but would you class 1 bout as that?
I’m not sure if I should keep him home or not.

Keep him home he is obviously not 100% is he and it hasn't been a full 24 hours either.

If he says his stomach is still sore, then I'd keep him off.

Yes, keep him off

I would keep him off too. Hope he feels better soon.

One bout or ten bouts, it's 24 hours since whenever the last occurrence is. And he's got a sore stomach. Keep him off!

So unfair to spread it potentially around.

Is he actually constipated? I would send him in if he seems ok, not if he's unwell. One bout is not a bug, it's a sign of something else.

Thanks everyone, I've kept him off.
Usually I wouldn't hesitate but last week the head teacher pulled me aside at pick up time to mention that his attendance was at 90%. We've had a rough teem before Christmas with fevers, chest infection and flu which I explained to her.

To the poster asking if he's constipated, he's regular everyday and hasn't mentioned any problems that way. I'd be the first to know as being the mother of a small boy I'm given regular updates on his poops and farts Hmm

Urgh bloody hell pulling you aside for attendance kids get ill 90% is nothing why are schools obsessed with attendance records. anyway he is better at home.
