Staines or Slough - choice oh house dilemma

Hi ladies!

New here and after reading some threads I thought this would be a good place to get opinions who may or may not been through my dilemma.

We have found a house that we loved could see us having a family- offer accepted yay great! It ticked most of the boxes and have taken the time to get to know the area.

FIRST HOUSE-offer accepted
Victorian Semi detached 3 bedrooms, lovely period features, large bathroom and lovely interior. Close to Eton high street and a less than 10 minute drive to Windsor! Not much to do but cosmetic to house. Advantage is transport cross rail into London for work the near future currently fastest train is 15 minutes into Paddington.
Road isn't great for parking as house is situated on main road should you not find parking you would need to go to a side street and turn back.

However we've encountered issues with vendor, major property/location issues which has surfaced through the Local Authority Searched and now feel all has put us in a 'not so happy feeling in my gut' about this almost like life is telling you in it's weird ways 'this isn't your house'.

... a week later we decided to start looking elsewhere, with no confidence with the agent and doubts the sellers have with us were in a good position to find somewhere and potentially move in soon.

SECOND HOUSE

A semi detached Victorian cottage needs updating and seller is very keen to accept a lower offer than listed so she can move into her retirement home. We would get property for a cheaper price compared to the properties sold on same street and the profit potential is amazing should we sell in 5 years.
Located in Staines a 17 minute walk to station... transport is ok not as good as first house. Maximum travel time 55 mins to waterloo compared to first house.
But the street is quite and tucked away from the hustle and bustle and parking isn't an issue.

I don't know much about Staines and would like more info?

What would you do?

Both lovely home, both period properties, one house needs doing up and the other doesn't... travel is better on one but not the other.

Help need advise and opinions to help me make a decision. Xx
