Sickness bug

My friends DC are staying with us and the oldest (8) has come down with a sickness bug.

She has been sick from 10pm last night through to about 5 minutes ago. She can't hold down any fluids and has awful stomach cramps. She's dozing on and off and crying a lot with the pain and general miserableness.

I really feel for her. I'm tempted to call 111 and get some professional advice as neither of my DC have ever been this poorly with a tummy bug before. One of my DC also has it but really nowhere near as bad as the 8 year old.

Any advice greatly received.

Is she able to take medicine like calpol? Is she able to take small sips of water/ dioralyte?
She needs to try even though it may make her sick again, she can’t allow herself to get dehydrated.
Where is your friend? Can you contact them and ask them to come back? When I was that age and sick, all I’d want would be my own bed and my mum

Thanks for your reply. We've turned a corner and she's been able to keep some fluids down finally. I have stopped worrying quite so much.

Oh I’m so glad to hear that. My two are poorly today too, bad enough when it’s your own- when it’s someone else’s kids it feels so much more responsibility
