New washing machine takes forever

Hi all, iv just recently brought a new washing machine and found the 40 degree wash takes 3 hours 25 mins and a 60 degree wash takes just over 4 hours. It does have a quick wash, 28 mins at 30 degrees. Im just wondering if im the only one who thinks 3 to 4 hours for 1 load of washing is too long? Iv got 2 kids, one of which has autism and developmental delay so do about 2 sometimes 3 loads a day so if i was to do it at 40 or 60 degrees the washing machine would be on all day, surely this is to much? (Bearing in mind i wash clothes and pjd after wearing them once, theyr not dirty dirty just worn.) Thanks!

My bosch machine has a 'speed perfect' button that reduces the time from (say) 2 to 1 hour etc. Does your's have anything like that?

Ours (a Miele) has some longer cycles too, but none longer than about 90 minutes. I find that the quick wash (about 30 minutes on mine too) is just fine for things that are just lightly soiled, and even for things that are sweaty like work out clothes, so that's what I use 99% of the time.

this is why we bought a bosch., refused to buy anything if they were not able to tell us how long the cycles were.

I have this problem too. I do what I can on the quick wash but I'd prefer to use a 'proper' wash cycle. Mine's a washer dryer and takes hours to dry too.

Does it have a time saver type button? Mine takes 2hrs 45 for a 40 and 3hrs for a 60 wash but has a button where you can reduce the time by half. Still means a 90 minute wash though. It also has a 30 minute 30 degree wash but you need to do an extra spin after it as it only spins at 1000 and can only do a handful of things at a time or it doesn’t rinse properly.

I always use the time saving mode on my Bosch when i’m using cotton cycles (when I need hotter than 40). I just add an extra rinse.

Otherwise, I use the mixed load option which is a 40/1400 wash and takes just over an hour.

Lots of them are like that now - it’s energy and water saving apparently although makes them basically useless for anyone who needs to get through the washing.

You need one with a speed up button that does the same wash in half the time - you don’t always want the quick wash option.

The longer cycles are supposed to be more ecologically friendly. I failed to see how 3.5-4 hours could be better for water or electricity than 1-1.5 hrs but I think much of the time of longer cycles is spent with the clothes soaking and the drum inactive.

The manual of my machine does say that the time reducing button shouldn’t be used with full loads though. I can’t say i’ve noticed it being any less effective but then I use the full length cycles on heavy soiled clothes (rarely have them).

Was something I checked before buying my recent one as I’ve heard of machines like this. Can recommend the Samsung eco bubble, can do a 40 degree wash in an hour and 30 or a 40 degree quickwash in 59mins.

Ours is a Bosch and the main wash cycle, cottons at 30°, takes about 2.5 hrs. There are quicker programmes but you can't fit as much in on them so it refuses to start.

We only do 1x load a day though as we don't have enough space to dry any more than that. We don't wash clothes for the sake of it either though and wear things 2-3 times before putting them in the basket (unless they're visibly dirty obvs) so that keeps the washing mountain to a more manageable level.

Hi all there is no time saver option on this machine. I have been in touch with currys who advised me the machines they selll at present dont have a time saver option. Just wondering if anyone benfits from a quick wash at 30 degrees? As this past week my machine has been on literally all day just for say 2/3 loads of washing at 40 degrees each. X

I think Curry’s may be talking rubbish. Mine is a Bosch which has this feature. It’s a fairly standard feature albeit on a more expensive machine. Mine was about 500£. Realise that doesn’t help you now as you already have the machine. I use the quick wash sometimes but since it doesn’t spin as fast as the other cycles the washing is damper and therefore takes longer to dry so ultimately not helpful.

30min quick washes are no good for full loads or heavy soiled items. I certainly wouldn’t use them as a regular wash option.

Curry’s are talking shit this is my machine.

I’ve attached a photo of the control panel from my actual machine. The same currently sold by Currys. It shows the touch screen button marked ‘speed/eco’. This button either reduces the time taken to wash (speed) or increases the ‘eco credentials’ of the cycle (increasing the time takenbut using less energy).
