Can DD give her clothes to her friend?

I bought 5yo DD a second hand cardigan. She is adamant that her best friend would adore it (has pictures of rabbits, apparently BF loves these) and wants to give it to her. I think that's sweet, and as far as I'm concerned the BF is welcome to it (it only cost a few quid and DD will refuse to wear it now she's set her heart on giving it away). However, I have said no as I think it looks weird to give clothes to someone else's children? But maybe I'm overreacting and I should let DD give it to her?

If it helps DD is going round to BF's house to play tomorrow morning. But I wouldn't normally do presents for a play date (is that right?? -- I'm new to this).

I would tell the Mum exactly what your daughter said and that's why she's giving it to her.
I think that's very sweet. I would be very touched that my D friend felt like that about my D.

My DS was given a T-shirt by his friend in very similar circumstances. I was absolutely fine with it -thought it was quite sweet actually.

I think it is sweet. My dd is the same age also gives and receives similar things from her friends. When a friend gives something to her I always check with the parent of the giver.

That's so lovely - what a lovely girl and a lovely friendship. I'd be touched if it were my child

*that it is ok to take. Sometimes yes it is but sometimes they give away their most prized teddy and I tell her to give it back.

Your daughter is generous. You are over thinking it.
