So I feel quite strongly that Christmas dec
s should stay up till 12th night. Dh knows this. On previous years I have had to compromise as I have been away on 12th night or it didn't fall on a weekend.
So today dh has sent mess that if kids want something to do they can take devs down. Now feel down he knows that the kids won't want to do this do it feels like he is really telling me to.
So how to reply to text.
Probably going to say kids won't want to. I will do it Saturday. For reference Kids go bad to school tomorrow and I have work tomorrow and college Friday so don't want to be spending last day of holiday taking devs down.
IS that harsh.

I would simply reply saying 'it's not 12th night yet - we'll do it at the weekend'.

How can you take them down by 12th night (Friday) if it's not done today?

strugglingtodomybest · 03/01/2018 08:27

I wouldn't bother replying to the text. If it's mentioned, just say that the kids weren't looking for something to do and anyway, you said they weren't coming down till 12th night.

In my religion we take 12th night as being from Christmas Day. So 12th night is 6th January. Indeed the church remains decorated on the feast of the Epiphany.
But I know this is open to debate.

"Nah, I'll do it at the weekend, you know I like them up."

Cheer up OP! Enjoy your last day of the holidays Smile

"Kids have plenty to do, thanks!"

Reply to what he has actually texted, not what he might be hinting. If he texts/says "Take the decorations down" then you can reply "No."
