Universal credit staff

Hi all,

I'd like to ask your opinion on something. I had an appointment with universal credit the other day. The lady asked me (literally) so what happened to their dad did he do a runner. She asked this in front of my children, luckily they were distracted by a game on my phone. I was so shocked I laughed it off but she stared straight back at me with a straight face waiting for an answer. I said I'd hunt him down if he did. Even though I laughed and said a cheesy answer, I was very upset by her question.

I'm a single parent but I get on with my children's father. I'm a full time mum and a full time student at university. Both my children are with the same dad we have lived together once but clashed so bad we decided for our children it'd be best to live apart. I'm really angry that she would ask me such an insensitive question in front of my children.

I want to complain but I feel if I do, any help I get will be stopped. What would you do in this situation?!
