Quick WWYD. Was at DD's carol concert at school today. She's 8. She's become v v self conscious in the last year. So her class gets up to sing & out of her whole class she's the only one fiddling with her hands, looking at the floor, looking like she wasn't enjoying it. Thing is she practiced lots at home & is a great singer& was really looking forward to it. We always have a chat before her bed & I know she'll ask me what I thought. So do I say it was great u did great or do I say she was the only one who didn't look like she was having fun??

LIE.

I overheard my dad at this age telling someone on the phone how flat my singing was at school carols and I have never forgotten it.

Parents are supposed to find their child amazing when no one else does. Tell her your heart was bursting with pride. Just don't book her into x factor auditions.

Tell her you enjoyed it and ask her how she felt about it. Depending on her answer either discuss it more or let it go. However, at the end of term, children are already tired and stressed so might be best to leave it alone for now.
