I am a nurse by background and senior in the NHS (Band 8). I work in a highly specialist area and have done various roles in a number of Trusts across the country in this speciality. Too and bottom of it is I need a drastic change. The NHS is being dismantled before my eyes and I'm struggling to feel the passion I once did.
But... I have 4 children (3 still at home) and a husband with an unpredictable income due to freelance/short term contracts.
What do middle aged people who need good old career advice do?
What would the good people of MN do in my position? Keep my head down for another 10 years until I'm electable for retire and return and probably resent not doing anything or take the plunge and do something wildly different but take the massive financial hit?
