I'm meeting Friend 1 for lunch next week. Really looking forward to it as been ages since we had a good catch up. Also want to discuss an issue concerning our DC that I don't think she knows about so might be a bit tricky!
Friend 2 has messaged asking to meet up on the same day I'm meeting Friend 1. Friend 1 & Friend 2 are also friends with each other and we do sometimes meet as a threesome. However, I don't think it's appropriate on this occasion due to the topic of conversation and the fact that Friend 1 invited me only so may not take kindly to me inviting someone else along (though I doubt she would say anything). I also know Friend 1 & 2 saw each other without me very recently.
I didn't want to lie to Friend 2 as Friend 1 and I are meeting locally so she could feasibly see us together (small town!). I messaged back saying that I was meeting Friend 1 that day but would let her have some dates when I was free. She messaged back to suggest she joined us. Again, not wanting to lie, I said Friend 1 and I needed to discuss issue with DC. She's now messaged back to suggest she come as "intermediary". Argghh. I really don't want her there so how do I respond without coming across as rude??
