Would you ask your cleaner to be dbs checked? I won't leave keys for her as I will be in the house all the time.

I never have.

I own a cleaning agency and we do a lot of work with vulnerable adults so all my staff are DBS checked. Honestly though? I don’t think it makes a difference. Its immediately out of date for a start (if its 3 years old anything could have happened in between) but also, it’s better to go off personality and gut instinct I find.

It doesn't make any difference to me but if I were organising one for a vulnerable friend or relative I would want a dbs check.

They are out of date from the day after they are issued.

I do not think it makes a difference if you will be home the entire time. I think it is far better to use your gut instinct and rely on references.
