Have you had to consent for an operation for your child?

I'm a junior ear nose and throat doctor.
For elective tonsillectomies we give out option grids. We give them out in clinic on the first day of consultation. I was hoping to get some opinions on this grid from parents who have had to consent their child for an operation like a tonsillectomy or an adenoidectomy.

  1. Whad do you think of the process of giving consent for your children to have an elective operation?
  2. What do you think of the time you are given to think about the procedure?
  3. What do you think of these grids copared to information leaflets?
  4. Any comments/suggestions for improvement?
