Home to school travel year 5

When we moved i couldn't find space for my girls in a local school so they are at school over 2 miles away. I have a load of health issues and driving back and forth day in day out is leaving me totally exhausted and unable to function by 4pm. I am going to try and get home to school transport for them but in the meantime would it be wrong to send them on the public bus? The stop is 5 minutes away, there are regular services and there is a crossing patrol right by the bus stop. Got a feeling any help will come in the form of a bus pass anyway.

Coming home I have a nearly 12 year old who meets us at the twins school and is happy to bring them home but whilst I am happy with them getting the bus, I don't want any grief from the school.

Am I mad even considering this? What would you do? Sometimes I have had to put them in a taxi and they are very sensible. I can just see me breaking down at this rate
