Three months with no hot water and renting

I just need to talk to someome. It is NOT ok that we (including DS3 and DS5) have been without hot water for three months.
The Estate Agent doesn't care because they are taking steps to fix it. The landlady feels she doesn't owe us anything because she is paying for the repairs. But we have had to wait for the plumber, water company and council to get together to fix it.
We've asked for alternative accommodation, alternative source of a shower, a rent reduction. But they have said no to everything.
Meanwhile I am scrubbing poo off my 3 year old with a jug of warm water while he screams "I want a proper bath!" for 10 minutes.
We are waiting for our house purchase to come through (have been waiting since May) so we can't move to a new rental.
Really struggling and depressed now.

Sorry to hear about your struggles, can you contact Shelter for advice?

I could call and see, but it seems like tenants just have no rights, as long as "steps are being taken to repair the problem". And because we are moving (hopefully at some point) we aren't looking for a new rental contract. Now it's getting colder, I'm sure the heating won't work either as it's all connected.
