Best time to invite neighbours for drinks?

We've just moved in to a new town and our neighbours have all been very friendly and welcoming. We'd like to invite them (plus children) around to meet my husband, myself and my two children. I'm thinking Sunday afternoon drinks but not sure what is the best time for this. Will people be eating Sunday lunch at 3? Should I say 4-6pm? So they can then take children home to eat, or is this too late. Well do some snacks of course but would rather just make it a short drinks and nibbles thing but with kids. What's the best time?

It depends how old the kids are. If the children are preschoolers, dinner time could be 5pm onwards so any invite after that could be misconstrued as an offer of more substantial food for them.

If I was invited at 3pm I would know not to expect lunch or dinner (and I'd be grateful to have such thoughtful new neighbours).
