Giving blood. Medication question.

I'm due to give blood on Friday for the first time in around 5 years but it's just occurred to me that I'm on a few different medications & there is very little on the blood.org website about restrictions on donating with the types of medication I'm on.

Do I show up & then make them aware beforehand?

Or if any seasoned donators have the answers I need, please help enlighten me!

I'm on citalopram, naproxen, pregabalin & co-codamol 30/500.

Call them. There will be a donor advice line advertised in their website

SquareWord · 07/08/2017 10:25

I would give them a call to find out my.blood.co.uk/home/contactus

I don't know why that didn't occur to me Blush

You will be asked to fill in a form and will be asked about medication on that. It has to be filled on each time you go (23 pints doen so a veteran here).

Although I find staff on the day can default to the 'computer says no' response, even if the official rules say otherwise.

It was okay, I did phone up in advance and was told all my medications were acceptable, and they double checked again just before the donation.
It went well & I'm booked in again for next time.

Well done, and I'm glad the medication didn't stop you 😊

Well done, they do have to be careful, not just with what you have taken but the reasons you are taking it too (so they don't jeopardise your health). I've always found them very helpful when I phone up to query medication/health conditions.

Well done!
