Help!! Curry stained leather Mulberry bag

LaurenWilkinson · 30/07/2017 15:42

Hi all

I'm new to Mumsnet and wondered whether anybody can help, please.. I accidentally dropped some curry onto a taupe coloured Mulberry bag and now have awful yellow staining!! The bag is practically brand new so as you can imagine I'm beside myself!

Has anybody had experience of removing curry/tumeric from leather without damaging the leather please?

Thanks!
Lauren

Maybe try taking it to the store and see if they can advise you? Good luck!

I would take it to a cobblers to see if theres anything they can do

Definitely don't attempt to clean it at home. You could make the staine worse.
I took my suede bag for stain removal to a dry cleaners. They actually did a really good job.

Sunshine gets rid of turmeric stains, that's what they do in India.

I've got absolutely no idea but thought I'd give you a massive massive hug. Hope you get it sorted as that sucks. Xxxxx

Yy to the sunlight. And call mulberry tomorrow before doing anything yourself

Greenteandchives · 30/07/2017 21:50

My cat pissed on my Bayswater. I was pretty upset, and Mulberry were hopeless. No help at all. It has mellowed with time. Agree with trying sunlight, if we get any.

The handbag clinic will probably be able to sort this out - have a look at some of their before and afters here. I have had a zip mended and a very faded leather handle dyed back to the original purple on a Marc Jacobs bag.

I think turmeric is an autumn colour. Go back to the restaurant and get the original spice. All you now have to do is get some pig tanner's in Somerset to bring the bag back to the 21st century.

You didn't by any chance use a credit card to buy the bag did you? some cards give you insurance cover for your purchases. Worth checking.
Otherwise I agree, don't whatever you do try any home remedies, could fix the stain that way.

I just can't get my head around 'taupe' for this time of year. I would so go a colour or a near pastel.

SpeckledyHen · 30/07/2017 23:48

The Handbag Clinic will be able to repair it .

Thanks ladies - really appreciate all your advice.
