Giving medicine.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to administer medicine to a 7mo? I obviously use the syringe in the box but I can't get it into his mouth without force, he spits it straight back out and it's quite stressful for him. He's teething and needs something to help take the edge off. He's happy to take food straight from hand but hasn't accepted a spoon, so can't get it in him that way either. So as you can imagine, weening has been interesting!

We use suppositories. Ibuprofen ones (I think).

If he takes a bottle put it in his milk. Otherwise squirt it towards his cheek rather than straight down his throat.

Will he suck on the syringe if you just gently put it in his mouth? DS1 would spit and freak if we emptied the syringe into his mouth, no matter how slowly or where we aimed it, but would suck the medicine out himself quite happily (I suppose it was like a dummy to him).

He doesn't have a dummy and is breastfed. I have to jam his mouth open with a finger to get the syringe in, and that's with great difficulty. Will look into a suppository.

Agree with squirting it into cheek, a bit at a time.

OP mine didn't have a dummy either, and was breast fed, I just meant that he sucked on it the same way most babies automatically suck on a dummy when you put it in their mouth Confused. If he won't even let you get it in his mouth then it's obviously not going to work though!
