Advice needed on present for parents

So I bought my parents a rather expensive present at Christmas in the form of tickets to a quite expensive popular musical performance.

However due to my dad being unable to get shifts recently in his job they are running low on money and are saying they cant go now which is quite obviously upsetting my mum. They are quite proud people and although I have offered to pay for the hotel they are still saying no as they dont want me spending any more money on them and would rather I spent it on myself (because I dont do that enough).

I just want them to go and have a nice weekend away and enjoy themselves at something they would really love. I am quite willing to pay for the hotel via my credit card and I can give them a couple of months rent in advance for spending money. Just wondering from anyone else who wouldnt want something paid for them, would this upset you more? I dont want to upset them or annoy them, just want them to have a good weekend away as they rarely get that and they've helped me out a hell of a lot over the years.

What would you do?

Not pay for the hotel and waste the tickets? (I wont get my money back now even if I resell them as they can only be resold on the sellers website and the prices are lower than what I paid, but really I'd rather they went than I got any money back).

Pay for the hotel and giving spending money too in the form of 'advance rent'?

Give advance rent to help pay bills only and abandon the idea of them going at all?

Any other option??
