Hideous Shoes

So DD had a play date yesterday and when I picked her up a member of the friends family had given DD a pair of shoes that were too big for the friend. The shoes are a high heel stripper type shoes, red patent pleather with gold studs. I couldn't think of a polite way of saying "thanks but no thanks" at the time so we brought them home. I hate them and would never let DD be seen in them outside the house. Should I deliberately damage the shoes (so badly they need throwing away) or get over it and let DD enjoy a playing with these hideous hideous shoes? DD is 5 and absolutely loves the bloody things.

Just let her play with them as dress up shoes.

MrsDc7 · 22/06/2017 22:17

Quite a big heel to let a 5 year old play with, she might go over on her ankle

MrsDc7 · 22/06/2017 22:17

Surely they aren't made in 5 year old sizes are they??

I'd let my dd play with them in the house. When I was around your dd's age, I was desperate for some high heels - my mum said no but she did get ne somethibg similar to those red ones to play with at home. They were my pride and joy.
If your dd loves them, then just let her rnjoy them. She'll grow out of them or get bored soon enough.

Child prostitute is a horrible term. If you don't like them, bin them.

Funnyfarmer · 22/06/2017 22:23

I actually quite like them. If it wasn't for the gold studs.
Wouldn't let my 5 year old out in them though.
Do you not have a dog?

AdalindSchade · 22/06/2017 22:23

Child prostitute? Hmm

Funnyfarmer · 22/06/2017 22:25

I bet she loves the clipity clop sound they make on the floor.

amusedbouche · 22/06/2017 22:28

Child prostitute is a horrible term, and a horrible reality. I am uncomfortable with the "look" of these shoes and my first though is that I don't want to condone/encourage DD to dress this way. But I also wander if I'm just being over the top and need to get over myself.

Yes, she bloody loves the noise they make! Our whole house is bare wood floors.

I imagine a very loud clipity clop sound thenGrin..
Do you not have a dog then? Or any other chewing animals. Could you borrow one?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 22/06/2017 22:56

We used to have a pair similar in the Wendy House when I was in primary school in the 70's, we all used to fight over them as we thought they were the most beautiful shoes in the world.

Just keep them for dress up.
