Child's bedroom

We are lucky enough to be renovating a house from scratch so therefore have a lot of choices to make. Firstly, we have two bedrooms upstairs, one is an obvious master bedroom and the other slightly smaller. As we are planning a family, would it make sense for us to choose the smaller bedroom with plans to leave the larger bedroom for a child and all their things? Possible shared room for siblings in the future? If you could design your house would you give your children more space than you?
Secondly, if you have children, what design choices would you recommend? E.g for a child's/babies room is it best to have carpet or something else? Would you have designed your babies room any differently if you could do it again? Thanks!

Definitely carpet as you will be creeping out when you've eventually got them to sleep!
I don't think a small child needs a master bedroom to be honest. They will be too young for playing on their own in their bedroom for a long while and your second doesn't sound like a box room.

If you're planning on staying in the house forever and having multiple children it may be an idea, but at the minute it sounds unnecessary. I'd enjoy the bigger room.

Laminate flooring is going down in DD2s room - she can have carpet after she is potty trained/dry at night and can (usually) reach the toilet if ill

May not be what you want to consider pre baby but now we are on number 3 washable is top priority

Room size - choose what suits you best now, you can always swap later (and again if needed)
