40th bday

Didn't know where to post.
My Dh will be 40 in a few months and I want to start planning from now.
He's an amazing man who really deserves a wonderful night.
I want to invite all our family and friends. I would say around 100 people.
What would you suggest I do ? There is so much on the internet but keeping it realistic but fun is difficult.

Hire a venue, DJ etc. Photo booths go down very well.

I thought about the DJ thing. But wanted to know if anyone had done something a little different.

My hubby isn't very party orientated. So on his next big birthday im going to arrange a morning run then a breakfast out a trip to an adventure zip line place then A late lunch then go- carting then an evening meal then the pub.
Invitations will go out for all the events and his friends can pick and choose some or all.
