Where do all the lonely socks come from?

I've tried to get the laundry under control this week, and although I think I've washed the majority of clothes, I've still ended up with a drawer full of odd socks! Any idea where the matching ones could be? I'm imagining they are clogging up the pipes somewhere, but doubt they'd actually manage to escape the washing machine. Does the sock monster actually exist? And how do you battle this most important issue?

I have a permanent pile of odd socks on my dressing table. I find the parnters of some and just put the new odd ones on whats left! Its never ending.

Course if kids actually put their 2 socks in the wash at once and didnt leave them under beds, lying about their bedroom floor it would help!

Yes their is a sock monster as I have a sock thats been there for ages and the partner has never turned up! Something obviously took it! Maybe 'Aliens love socks as well' Smile

Haha, actually those stories would make way more sense if they were about socks Grin

How about an online dating site for socks? I would call it Match if it hadn't already been taken.

kilmuir · 27/10/2016 21:13

They have run off with Tupperware lids that have no containers

Fluffy24 · 27/10/2016 21:14

The sock monster is real obviously, but they're invisible during the day.

1DAD2KIDS · 27/10/2016 21:24

Yes where do the Tupperware lids (or non branded equivalent) run off too.

A kilmuir if they do elope with the runway socks like you suggest what do their offspring look like?

I found a dozen odd children's socks stuffed behind the sofa this evening.

woodhill · 27/10/2016 21:35

And the disappearing teaspoons.

Yes have mystery socks here too.

Try to do socks reunited but doesn't work.

You know the Planet of Lost Biros ? well, there's another for odd socks.

My DH solved the problem of his odd socks by buying six 5-packs of identical pairs at the same time. It's great, they just all get bunged in the drawer with no need to pair them. If one gets a hole, it gets thrown out rather than having to bin two. At some point when he's down to less than about 20 socks I guess he'll get a whole new drawerful.

DD on the other hand sometimes deliberately wears odd socks - I'm not sure if its a teenage Thing.

I used to hear the proper grown ups wen I was a young one at work complain about this . Idiots I thought how hard can it be to keep socks together ??

Not laughing now eh clumsy Grin I mean seriously were do they go ?? I have a special place in my draw for odd socks incase the others ever decide to show up. Which they never fucking do Angry
