Thank you cards?

Ok my question here is I recently eloped, we told only immediate family what we were doing. A few days after the actual ceremony we had a family get together and announced it but most people had already been informed of our news by the family members who knew and had bought us cards with money and gifts etc ..obviously it was unexpected and I said thank you personally to the people who gave them.
There were a few people who didn't manage to make it to the get together and they had sent cards too and obviously I will send those people a thank you card, but should I send a card to the people i thanked personally? Sorry for the waffle!

Yes , you should .
I know you said thank you in person but a thank you note is expected for a wedding gift.

Yea that's what I thought I just wasn't sure if it would seem weird to thank people again that I'd thanked in person but I have them written already :)
