Hello everyone! Smile

A few weeks ago, I started a blog all about France.

I had several ideas for a name but was finding it tricky to decide, and you guys helped me out hugely.

It was Theydontknowweknow who came up with the name French Affliction which I've gone for, so thank you so much!! Smile

I'm just wondering if you all could have a quick look at my blog please?

It's still in its very early stages, but I'm very excited to keep it going.

I'd really appreciate some tips and advice from you all on what you like about it and what you think I should change, get rid of or improve.

If you'd like to have a look at the blog, I'd be very grateful - you can find it at www.frenchaffliction.com!

Thanks so much Smile xx

Bon soir Smile just had a quick peek - looks lovely, really professional, and I like your writing style, good luck with it!

TheDuchessOfArbroathsHat · 27/06/2016 19:58

just had a quick look - it looks good!
Good luck with it!

Loved the disappearance!

RangeTesKopeks · 27/06/2016 20:50

Awww thanks so much Why, donners and Duchess for your lovely comments!! Smile It's really kind of you all.

Anything at all that you'd like to see me include in future blog posts? Your wish is my command Wink

Or is there anything that you think I should change or improve?

Hmm, puts thinking hat on! I think it's great as it is but maybe if you're planning on visiting lots of places in France you could include the ability to search for posts by geographical location? E.g by regions? So people planning trips away could use it easily?

acasualobserver · 27/06/2016 21:42

I won't look at your blog because I'm very disappointed that you didn't use the name I suggested.

RangeTesKopeks · 27/06/2016 21:50

Sorry acasualobserver, it was a very close call! Blush Thank you so much for your idea though!! Let's not let any linguistic differences come between us Grin

What do you all think about a blog post on making crêpes called .... wait for it .... "pimp my crêpe"? I'd have a post on savoury crêpes and then one on sweet crêpes.

I'm thinking of including a basic savoury/sweet crêpe recipe in the post and then lots of suggestions for toppings.

What do you reckon for the savoury toppings? Smile

I'm thinking of including typical and not so typical (but hopefully delicious!) toppings.

So far, I've got -

  1. Crêpes Benedict
  2. "Tartiflette" (pancetta and potatoes cooked in cream and topped with melted cheese)
  3. Goat's cheese, walnuts and honey

Yep. I'm hungry now Grin

TheDuchessOfArbroathsHat · 28/06/2016 08:04

Those crepes sound delicious . I personally don't like the 'pimp my...' prefix to things but I am old gimmer I suppose.
I'd happily see more recipes and more region by region features. Perhaps a photography section?
I didn't read the restaurant reviews - not sure why. I particularly like the language/proverb section - this is exactly the kind of thing that interests me as I have a good understanding of French but could never pass as any kind of local!

RangeTesKopeks · 29/06/2016 01:19

Aw thanks very much Caboodle and Duchess!! :) I've just done a post on the top ten French expressions to learn (in my humble opinion!), so would be great if you could have a read to let me know what you think Smile

Caboodle · 29/06/2016 22:21

If I understood how to get to it to read it I would love to Grin

RangeTesKopeks · 29/06/2016 22:37

Caboodle · 30/06/2016 06:15

Loved the blog....will be telling the kids all about 'fat mornings' (what a bloody brilliant term btw, so descriptive) when they eventually get up Grin

ShutTheFuckUpBarbara · 30/06/2016 06:31

Just had a look at your blog and I really like it!

I am French and I think your selection of French expressions was very good!

If you do a post on crêpes, then may I suggest that the savoury section features galettes de sarrasin ? With eggs and gruyère of course :)

RangeTesKopeks · 01/07/2016 20:09

Awww thank you so much Caboodle! That's so sweet of you Smile And merci beaucoup Barbara, that's so kind! Smile

Ooh also Barbara - just a quick question about your username as I'm far too curious Grin is your username a reference to the French singer Barbara? (Or perhaps another Barbara)

OP posts:
RangeTesKopeks · 01/07/2016 20:11

And excellent idea about the savoury galettes for the crêpes section Barbara - thanks! Smile
