I love the word bahookie as in sit oan yir bahookie or I'll skelp yir bahookie! Fabulous word.

whoops -you'll be staying down the hill from me then -I'm in Bellshill. Are you staying at the Alona or the Holiday Inn Express?

zephyrcat · 18/01/2007 23:10

Perfect! Is there room in the garden for the reindeer?

myturn · 18/01/2007 23:11

Okay, now you are pushing it...

Lol

hotandbothered · 18/01/2007 23:12

I am very homesick...
Couldn't think of anything, but reading this it all comes flooding back!
Strawberry tarts and coffee towers from Fisher and Donaldsons...
Bridies
Tablet
MacCowans toffee
mince butteries
jeanettas ice cream
'where do you stay?' always confuses people
'going for the messages'

myturn · 18/01/2007 23:14

Although thinking about it, I'm sure the cats could budge up and make room for it in their bed... is it small enough to squeeze through a cat flap? And will it eat Tesco's kitten food? Jelly or gravy?

myturn · 18/01/2007 23:15

Aaw hot and bothered. We all go for the 'messages' here too.

Mum calls slippers 'baffies'. A Fife expression I believe...

hotandbothered · 18/01/2007 23:18

We used to have baffies too....

zephyrcat · 18/01/2007 23:18

Messages is a good one - really confuses people!! Another is... I don't know how to spell it! Sounds like Ben e hoose... through the house.... in the other room lol

bobby2 · 18/01/2007 23:18

We call them baffies too, and have you ever explained a macaroni cheese pie to any one? they just wouldnae get it

myturn · 18/01/2007 23:19

Okay, why is it that whenever there is a Scottish thread,it always reverts to talking about food???

Macaroni pies.. droooooool.....

SoMuchToBits · 18/01/2007 23:21

We always refer to slippers as "baffies" too. Although I'm English, dh is Scottish (also from Fife). Does anyone else say "dookers" for swimming trunks? My ds (aged 6) thinks baffies and dookers are the regular words for these items, which sometimes causes confusion with his friends, seeing as we live in Suffolk!

myturn · 18/01/2007 23:22

Mum says dookers - but I don't really believe the Fife are Scottish atall. I think they are a nationality all on their own... lol.

SoMuchToBits · 18/01/2007 23:23

You could be right there...

hotandbothered · 18/01/2007 23:27

I want a macaroni cheese pie now... oh no... what can I eat that will fill that kind of gap
I made kilted sausages the other day tho'!

bobby2 · 18/01/2007 23:27

Oxters anyone? or is that just our family's sick language (armpits)

myturn · 18/01/2007 23:29

Oooh no, there are plenty of stinky oxters around at the local salsa class...

myturn · 18/01/2007 23:30

Kilted sausages hotandbothered? Did you knit them?

And do you do them in Anderson tartan?
