do I have to stay out drinking for my boss to like me?

At a work do. I'm not a big drinker - I'll have about two - as I don't like the way I feel the next day and can't perform. I feel this could have hindered me in my new role. I stayed out late with work colleagues at an event but only had two drinks, didn't get to the bleary eyed state they are in, and even though I left at 1.30am feel I hadn't bonded as much with my new boss as the (much more strategic) other new girl had done. Do I need to get wasted to do well?

drink tonic water, without the gin/vodka

make it look like you are drinking if you feel you need to be out

I had a boss like this - it was an old boys club and the promotions in the team were clearly his drinking mates that kept him company while he hit on women :/

So I left the company and started somewhere where my boss appreciates me for the work I do, not how many shots I can manage. I am much much happier now Smile

Can you suggest lunches as well?
