Need a quick answer - who to disappoint

I have offered something on freecycle . It was accepted by someone who has been quick to reply and is quite excited to get the item.

DH has just come in and said he has also promised the item to a friend. :(

What can I do ? Who to disappoint? The freecycler who seems nice or the friend who has done us a good turn or two in the past?

I don't know. Tell the friend it's already gone unfortunately?

Give it to the friend, on a first come first served basis the friend was promised first.

Disappoint the stranger - just apologise tell them the truth that there had been crossed wires and dh promised it someone.
