Apparently one of the reasons is that she hasn't or can't learn French and he doesn't speak much English. WTF? Surely if your spouse spoke another language you would both try to learn each other's?

This reminds me of Naomie Campbell when she was going out with a flamenco dancer, who was spanish. Apparently it was in the papers that they had had a huge row, to which she retorted something along the lines of we don't speak the same language so how could we have argued?! Logic that is impossible to follow! Weren't they also together for something like a year and a half? Also wasn't this nearly 20 years ago and how can I remember? Ah, that is why I am in sleb twaddle!

Anyway, back to Cheryl and huge speculation on my part, but could it be that socialising is difficult. Him and his friends/family won't speak english when they are together and she feels left out? I am married to foreigner and although I can speak and understand his language, I am long way from being sufficiently fluent to join in pub and kitchen-table gossip. We have had a fair few ding dongs over that.

It does seem to follow that once the papers get hold of a story and will not give it up, that it seems to have truth to it and the relationship does indeed break up. I imagine with this story they have an insider or two who is keeping them up to date.
