Help! Anyone out there for advice? I have foolishly offered to do a mother of the bride speech at DD's wedding. Does anyone know who I thank, and who I propose a toast to? I tried googling but it's all american stuff. I'm rubbish at jokes.. DH will be there but not speechifying.

All the best speeches are SHORT. Stand up say thank you to everyone for coming, tell them you are having a wonderful time and that you are delighted that your beautiful daughter and her lovely husband have got married then SIT DOWN and enjoy the rest of the day.

Jokes, anecdotes and extended thanking are overrated and boring
