I normally think "is she pg" speculation is in bad taste, but surely that remark in Victoria Coren's Observer column can only have one interpretation?

Here it is the relevant section is about half way down.

Lovely news.

David Mitchell was on a chat show last week and told everyone. (Jonathan Ross possibly)

RedCrayons · 29/03/2015 10:53

Its already out in the open. David Mitchell was in Jonathan Ross last week talking about it.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 29/03/2015 10:55

Oh I missed that - I'd have expected to see a MN thread. That's nice then.

Sparklingbrook · 29/03/2015 10:57

YY I thought there would have been a thread Lady, it is lovely news.

Grantaire · 29/03/2015 11:00

There was a MN thread.

Sparklingbrook · 29/03/2015 11:03

Was there? I thought there were comments but not a thread of it's own? I can't remember, it's a week ago now. Grin

AuntieStella · 29/03/2015 11:06

I think there were comments on the sporadically active Only Connect thread.

Grantaire · 29/03/2015 11:10

It wasn't the sporadically active OC thread, it was the thread from a few weeks ago speculating about whether she was pregnant.

It was bumped the minute David Mitchell confirmed it.

I like that. The use of an existing, relevant thread. Shows lovely orderly behaviour.

Thread is here

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 29/03/2015 11:14

Oh sorry, missed that completely, both the original thread (of which I disapprove) and the followup bump. I apologise for my unorderly behaviour.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 29/03/2015 11:15

I am very unorderly for not seeing that thread but remember commenting on a thread about it at the time.

Bunbaker · 29/03/2015 11:18

I don't understand why you have a problem with anyone discussing a potential pregnancy. It was ever thus.

AuntieStella · 29/03/2015 11:31

It is on the Only Connect thread

(It is possible to be in more than one place, or did you just mean you were thinking of a different in addition to another long-running, orderly one?)

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 29/03/2015 11:39

I don't like speculation in public about possible pgs because it's so hurtful if the subject is having fertility problems or has miscarried.

OP posts:
Grantaire · 29/03/2015 15:00

I don't mean that this thread is unorderly Grin or that it wasn't talked about on the sporadic OC thread. In reference to the surprise that there was no thread specifically about V being pg, I meant we already had a specific VC-M pregnancy thread and I liked the neatness of somebody adding to it.

Grantaire · 29/03/2015 15:01

I was responding to that q.

Bunbaker · 29/03/2015 16:18

"I don't like speculation in public about possible pgs because it's so hurtful if the subject is having fertility problems or has miscarried."

It sounds like this has touched a nerve, but I don't think it would occur to most people to take that into consideration.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 29/03/2015 16:29

I know it wouldn't Bunbaker but actually I think on MN we should know better. I'm sure everyone occasionally nudges their partner on the way home from a party and says "Did you notice that X was on the orange juice? Do you think that she and Y might be....?!" and that's only human nature, but to do it in public risks hurting people when they're at their most vulnerable. All the tabloids do it, but it doesn't make it right. I think of poor Princess Masako of Japan and the hell she must have gone through ttc with the eyes of the world in front of her.

Bunbaker · 29/03/2015 16:33

I had to google her because I had no idea who she was. What a horrible time she has had.
