Talk to me about RSVPs for a childs party

So we are holding a party for my childs birthday at a local soft play centre, invited 10 children and have heard back from 4. I am to pay the balance of the party and confirm numbers on Friday. Would I be the worst person in the world to only pay for the children that have rsvp'd or pay for all and potentially be paying for empty seats and wasted food?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I would contact the other parents and explain you need to pay by Friday so they need to let you know by Thursday.

Never expect many RSVPs for a children's party. Any more than 50% is a success.
Doesn't the venue have minimum numbers anyway? Ours is 10.

There is normally a minimum number you have to pay for for that type of party regardless of how many turn up.

The minimum is 8 and I have invited 10 plus my child. So 8 will be paid for anyway, I will have to collar people up the school and find out. I did asl for all replies by tomorrow so I will get my son to show me who these people are and ask their parents. We are relatively new to the area so I don't even know who the kids are that we have invited, let alone the parents!

At least one or two won't come anyway because that always happens! I would pay for 8 if that's the minimum and hope for the best!

Next time, put a deadline on the invitation!

I did put a deadline, which is tomorrow. Just had a really poor response so far!

You won't get many responses until the deadline and you can't really chase until after then

I'd pay for eight and see how you go - presumably you'd be able to pay for any extras on the day in any case ?
