Ds suffers from a few things-

  • reflux (when this flares up he is definitely off school)
  • dairy allergy
  • chronic constipation
-asd
  • asthma
hes fed via gastrostomy feeding tube. Past 2 weeks hes been in school 2x as he is bleeding on the inside and sometimes has pain, hes been a+e twice too and fast track gastric appointment today. They will be doimg cameras up ans down him to see why hes bleeding..his bleed is in his aspirates and stool.

Hes ok in himself at times. He won't admit hes in pain as hes scared of the drs but will admit it if you ask in a different way ( do you wanr xyz to fix your tummy if its hurting and he will say yes it hurts etc or tell tale sign ia him rubbing his tummy which school dont pick up on as hes good at hiding that)

do I send him in or keep him home??
Sometimes I think for the sake of normality he needs to go in if hes not bleeding too much and was ok in the morning but would never forgive myself if he suffered more at school and him.not telling anyone

felt I had to give full details so you know its not a bog standard do I send dc in school with a cold thread.
Tia.

From someone with chronic illness i think its important you let him rest. Once you are ill with something its important to him recover fully esp with his tummy issues. He wont be able to concerntrate bless him. I hope he is better soon..you know him best though do the school understand your situation?
