Weaning baby off breastfeeding onto formula.

Ok so I have decided to make the leap to stop breastfeeding. We have tried today to just go right in at the deep end and swap straight to formula. Little one takes expressed milk in bottle from my partner fine normally... hence us deciding to take such a big leap with the formula. But my little one will not take it, all she wants is mummy. Have considered trying half expressed milk and half formula. Although expressing milk has become far too much work as roughly 5oz is taking me a good 30mins plus to express. So I was wondering if anyone can offer any tips/ advice on how to wean my little one off the breast and onto bottles?

I'd ask Mnhq to move this to Infant feeding, you'll get better answers. Good luck.

How old is LO?

Check that formula is correct temperature? Breast milk comes out fairly warm and babies often reject a colder bottle.

Depending on the age of dd would depend on what advice I would give to switch...

Personally is stick at breastfeeding a while longer. Once she starts weaning she'll likely cut her feeds down and its better for baby to keep feeding.

I weaned my baby at 6 months ish onto formula as well and it was a bit tricky at first but we stuck with it and it really didn't take long! We had to make sure the bottles were warm (or room temp) I actually got the perfect prep and it's been amazing - I really think it helped a lot. I also went against the advice and just stopped breast feeding completely one day - yes it was uncomfortable for a week or so with several days of leaking but that's the only way it would work for either of us! I just knew I wouldnt easily stick to my resolve.
