Rehome dog I've adored for years?

I've got a gorgeous labradoodle who I've had since he was 8 weeks old. He is now 7.5. I had him when it was just me and the two of us lived in a little flat. Now I've got DH and one DC (a year old) and it seems as though DC is allergic... Obviously I love my DC but I also love this dog so much and the thought of rehoming him and him wondering where we've gone leaves me in tears. Am I crazy? It was just me and him for so long and he's such a good boy and this isn't his fault but it also isn't dc's fault. WWYD????

Make sure you rule out any other causes of allergy first. Is there a chance of re-homing with family or friends? Then you could still see him?

How bad is your dcs reaction?
You could try having hard floors, leather sofa and hovering more.
My dd suddenly became allergic to our cats.
We just shut them out of bedrooms and fortunately she became un-allergic again!

My DNiece is allergic to cat dander, so the tests showed. They did not get rid of their cat and DN is fine now (she's 2) and loves giving the cat cuddles
