Ds's new football coach has sent a text with a x at the end!

Ds (9) has just joined a new football team, he made it into the firsts and his coach who I have met twice sent a message about availability to play for the older team this weekend. So far so good, replied to say he was available but I had to attend a young farmers event with my eldest but that conveniently this is in the same town so I could drop ds off but couldn't stay (club rules state parents must accompany which is fair enough) reply came back "that's really great, I'll look after him x"

To me this is inappropriate- if dp saw this he would hit the roof and wonder what the heck was going on! Not going to make a fuss, sent a non descript "thanks, glad he won't miss out on the opportunity, discuss at training thurs?"

Anyone else ever received a text and thought :-/

Yes, and I'm guilty of sending an x inappropriately (DS's Headteacher) completely accidentally. Is it really worth getting worked up about?

FiftyShadesOfGreen4205 · 20/10/2014 18:01

To be honest, I have sent kisses in an email to my (married, gay) boss. I didn't mean to, it was because I had been emailing DH that morning. It might be a mistake.

Oh my god! He's clearly a sex pest. You should call the police.

Or alternatively calm the fuck down and tell your DH to give his head a wobble and learn to trust you.

WipsGlitter · 20/10/2014 18:03

Really? Hit the roof?! Over-reaction much.

When you say "discuss Thursday" are you intending to bring this up with him?

It's maybe a thing he does automatically. x

Flowerfae · 20/10/2014 18:04

I've done that by accident :) I only put 'xx' at the end of txt's to close friends/family/DH but i've been txting a couple of people at the same time and its easily done.

puds11isNAUGHTYnotNAICE · 20/10/2014 18:07

Hahahaha this needs no 'discussion' Jeysus, do you think he's in love with you? Its clearly an accident one that I do all the time

Your DP sounds like a delight! Hit the roof? Over an accidental X? Really???

Iggly · 20/10/2014 18:08

Er it isn't that big a deal.

do you wish it was?

sanfairyanne · 20/10/2014 18:16

Good griefHmm

I've sent dsâ??s music teacher a x at the end of an email once by mistake, no buggy.

your dh sounds quite odd.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 21/10/2014 12:49

ds's

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 21/10/2014 12:49

buggy not buggy

bloody phone

sillymillyb · 21/10/2014 12:53

Ive just texted the sky man and put an x on the end by accident. I so god my old boss I loved him at the end of a phone call once..... Do you think their wives should hunt me down and kill me?!?

PiratePanda · 21/10/2014 12:56

Accident/quite possible he's too young to know what it might imply.

Not remotely inappropriate. Just very casual.

MrsBungle · 21/10/2014 12:57

What an over-reaction. It's probably just habit.

BlueberryWafer · 21/10/2014 12:57

I put x's on texts by accident a the time. The amount of times DP has asked me to send a text for him off his phone when he's been driving or something, and I've put an x on the end by accident to someone highly inappropriate like his boss!

Why on earth would your husband hit the roof?

magpiegin · 21/10/2014 12:59

Christ, I wouldn't have even noticed it! It means nothing.

WD41 · 21/10/2014 13:00

Maybe it was a mistake, or perhaps he's just one of those people who put kisses at the end of all messages, FB statuses etc.

Your DP would hit the roof? Sounds like you have far bigger problems than whether the football coach fancies you or not.

I said a breezy 'love you' at the end of a phone call about party arrangements to one of ds's friend's mum, and we're not even friends! My sister made me feel better though; she said it to a checkout assistant as she was saying bye.

bonkersLFDT20 · 21/10/2014 13:06

I've sent txt kisses to my boss, the running club coach, various male friends/husbands of friends, the guy coming to prune a tree, my FIL, friends of my 15 year old son.

All by accident and I'm sure they laughed it off. It's the context, isn't it.

Txt to boss: Yes, I'll come for the meeting at 10.30am. x

OR txt to boss: I really fancy you x

Naicecuppatea · 21/10/2014 13:10

People do it on bloody FB all the time, xx after status updates, or even a few for luck in the middle. Means absolutely nothing these days, certainly nothing to warrant extra thought about!

hmc · 21/10/2014 13:10

What's your secret you femme fatale you!

mymummademelistentoshitmusic · 21/10/2014 13:14

Your h would 'hit the roof'? Fuck me, I'd be more concerned about being with a possibly abusive Neanderthal than an errant 'x'. Your priorities are odd.
