THE meeting place for those smitten with Benedict Cumberbatch. As one of the members put it: Hump, limp and bad wig - but we'd still hit it.

Pile on in, there's always room for one more!

sude cumberbuddy has done it

I went looking for a big issue person and I couldn't find one either

Off to see imitation game

Cumberlover76 · 10/11/2014 20:07

Oooh, hope you enjoyed TIG HRH. Can't wait to see it. Doesn't seem to be showing in my local cinema yet. We've only got one Vue and its not listed yet.

Sudename · 10/11/2014 20:37

Opening in Ireland on 14th we have an Odeon and an Omniplex so presume they'll show it

HRHsherlockssextoy · 11/11/2014 07:48

The film is a good one. Skips along without a moment to be bored. I wasn't moved by the emotion in it, in some ways it was formulaic.

He's good in it. Comparable to colin firth in Kings speech. But not that good. I suppose to win an Oscar you only have a compete against the others who are nominated. There's no great transformation there.

He's looking happy lately isn't he?

Morning he is flying back as we speak to do some filming for Hollow Crown. Then back to USA again don't know how he does it he must be knackered.
He looks like someone p#ssed in his cornflakes to be honest Shock

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 11/11/2014 11:23

Sudename, in that picture yes, but I think HRH meant in general. Thinking back to the Elle Interview, he looked like the cat who ate the canary. I'm happy that it's all out in the open now (even though the news dashed my fantasies for five minutes), but I can imagine some of the vitriol that she had received. I totally understand their need/desire to keep it under wraps - firstly, to allow the relationship to develop normally (as normally as possible) but also to maintain the allure. Some fans (though not us!) go off their faves when they are perceived to be unattainable.

Now I'm wondering if she was there to warm him up after the shower ice bucket challenge (lucky duck!). Considering how cryptic the Elle Interview was, I wouldn't be the least surprised if she were already expecting (or trying) and for there to be a quick/surprise wedding.

I read that he has flown to the UK today for Hollow Crown filming and will be back stateside on Friday for more TIG promotion. No wonder he looks snarky he must be exhausted.

HRHsherlockssextoy · 11/11/2014 15:17

My iPad has been playing up so I had to give it to my husband to fix

According to him 'I have a Benedict cumberbatch fixation'

Poor man. He doesn't get it does he?

As for his lady being pregnant I oft explain the weirdness, not being seen together etc

SciFiFan · 11/11/2014 15:33

So the magazine place has just come back with the following:

"I do apologise for the delay.

May I kindly ask that you allow 5-7 days for receipt of the issue."

As i ordered it 7 working days ago im not sure whether they mean it's due now or in another 5-7 days Hmm. Do we get the impression they're overwhelmed with interest?

Sudename · 11/11/2014 17:11

Don't know if mine has come yet as I had it delivered to work and have been off ill for past two days.
I'd say they were swamped with orders though

Sudename · 11/11/2014 17:38

Fun interview with Ben and Keira

Cumberlover76 · 11/11/2014 19:39

Ha ha I think fixation is barely touching the sides HRH! I never log out of MN and have tons of photos of Benedict on my tablet and my Google drive so my husband could easily discover the depths of my obsession. He has an idea, but not fully, perhaps I should log out .

I imagine they had silly amounts of orders, I ordered it and I never buy magazines so there must have been plenty like me.

Have been pondering a question for Russell Brand as I so would and was thinking we need to start a campaign for a Mumsnet live Batchchat, how good? The BCAS would have to get first dibs, I wonder what he'd make of our names?Hmm

SugarFinney · 11/11/2014 20:07

I have recovered from the shock of the engagement now and wish Ben and Sophie all the best!

GreenCard I also think their wedding will be soon, why hang around? And a cumberbaby would be very cute.

Sudename · 11/11/2014 20:14

I'm calling an Xmas wedding and "news" in the new year.
Also what will they do with his hair for Sherlock in January. Can't see it being long enough by then

SciFiFan · 12/11/2014 07:35

One of his co-stars was talking about the stag do possibly being soon in New York so it does sound like it will be a swift wedding.

Sude I'm also on hair watch. I love Sherlock and how he looks in it, but hate when he grows his hair in real life.

SciFiFan · 12/11/2014 07:36

Another recent pic.

Cumberlover76 · 12/11/2014 09:18

Just picked up The Big Issue on my way to work, don't normally buy it but couldn't resist his face looking out at me. Little bit of extra cash for all of those sellers this month!

Nice article though.

mkmjimmy · 12/11/2014 11:40

bitchy little piece in the Telegraph

OnlyLovers · 12/11/2014 11:50

Oooh, that is catty! I had to laugh at his list of British actors who are just as good. I concur with Stephen Graham, Andrew Garfield and Matthew Macfadyen, but Ben Whishaw, Tom Hardy, Lennie James, Rafe Spall, Michael Sheen, Hugh Dancy, Chiwetel Ejiofor and James McAvoy? Pahahahaaahaaaa.

I love how someone who writes for the Torygraph doesn't seem to see the irony in attacking someone for being 'middle-class' or 'posh'. And some of the actors he fetes in his list are from not dissimilar backgrounds.

Also, this and a lot of the other material (his appearance, rise to fame, fanbase) is old hat. If I were the editor who let that piece run I'd be ashamed of myself.

mkmjimmy · 12/11/2014 11:54

That's what I thought - really lazy journalism.

I have to say I think everyone on his list is lovely - but BC is really A list material now and handling rather well the amazing weirdness that must come with that. It's his job and he's been amazingly successful, with that comes publicity.

Sudename · 12/11/2014 12:18

My magazine arrived yesterday to work ladies

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 12/11/2014 14:25

Wow. That op/ed piece. Sounds like someone missed their meds that day. "Fragrant fiancée?" That's just rude and mean.

I hope Benedict takes him out for a friendly beer.

I hope Benedict takes him out for a friendly beer.

I like your style, GreenCard. Killing with kindness. Grin

Yes, 'fragrant fiancee' is snarky in the extreme isn't it?

HRHsherlockssextoy · 12/11/2014 18:23

I agree with some of the piece but not with others. What does he expect him to do?

In some ways he asks for the publicity in others ways not

I didn't like the name changing. It's infantile and makes the writer sound dull. I quite like fragrant fiancé. She does look rather fragrant!

Cumberlover76 · 12/11/2014 19:29

Agree the name changing was very childish, it totally discredited any point the writer may have had, although I don't agree with most if it. Silly man!
