i'm gonna apologise in advance for a very long post, i had to move at short notice from old flat. found new place and rented a room a month ago from older male live in landlord. terms were 1 months deposit, 1 months rent in advance, and rent to be paid every two weeks in cash with receipts but no written contract. 2 days into lodging had bust up with landlord and was shouted down for several hours. I gave verbal notice the next day, which was flatly refused, any attempt to discuss shouted down, and landlord sent conflicting texts mainly about how much deposit he would return. after that it was 2 wks of abuse, daily threats of eviction, invasion of room e.t.c. a few days later he demands a full months rent instead of the 2 weeks, and 1 week later menacingly demands an advance on rent. Another shoutdown ensues late night until 3 am. The next morning i give a 2weeks written notice and follow up with text message, he shouts me down but i refuse to rescind notice or stay on. he proposes to accept a 3 weeks notice and threatens to evict or harm if i do not accept. next day he invites me to a talk which goes to meltdown in a matter of seconds, he slams a door into my face, physically threatens to kick or KO and shouts abuse and insults. i insist on notice and deposit and try to walk away, but landlord refuses to let me out of flat, i only manage to leave by shouting and threatening police. as i leave in the night he shouts that i should not come back and should find my things outside. i hear landlord barring door to entry and have not been back since. After several days, landlord twigged i was not coming back and rent was due and begun to call and demand next months' rent, apologise, abuse and generally harrass and argues i need to pay one's month rent to receive my deposit back. after 1 day of further threats and calls it turns out he has spent the deposit and has no other income and wants to re rent the room. we agree on a day to "discuss", he cancels 2 mtgs at short notice and lets it slip he has already packed up my stuff. i turned up to a prearragned mtg to with police escort to pick up stuff but landlord goes underground, would not answer calls/texts. minutes after police left, he calls and texts asking me to go pick up my stuff. i'm exhausted and stressed. tomorrow is final police escort at certain time. i need help. What more can i do
