Teenager staying at home

my youngest is in my drama production which is 40 miles from home and needs a very early start. My eldest ds is 15 and wants to stay at home so he can go out with friends, I,consider him to be trustworthy.

I am not sure if leaving him at home with no other family nearby when I am going to be 40 miles away is reasonable. His dad will be away working and so not around that day either.

What would you do?

If he is trustworthy, give him a chance. Perhaps he can ring at regular intervals.....maybe set some ground rules ?

We will be doing it again, the neighbours report that all was quiet and he had done the laundry and hung it out! Left it out in the rain too but we have all done thatSmile

Glad it went well,I wouldn't have given it a second thought tbh.

Have I got this right, you aren't leaving 15 year old alone overnight? So you're asking if its ok to let a 15 year old stay at home alone for a few hours during the day?

TBH, I'm amazed you have to ask. What does he do during the school holidays when you're at work?

HavanaSlife · 04/10/2014 08:43

I think the op was asking because she was going to be quite a distance away if anything did happen. Not is it ok to leave a 15 year old alone for a few hours.

Perhaps the OP doesn't work?
