would you give up the goods

ok so an item was offered on a 1st come 1st served freebies site. I requested the items and arranged collection.
since than someone else has requested them for charity.
would you be decent and let them have it.
I am torn.

I would ask for their charity registration number - or some proof it was genuine. Then I would let them have it.

I think it depends on what your financial situation right now is like. If you are living in hardship and the item is something you/your family need and could not otherwise afford, then keep it. But if you are well off and just grabbing a bargain you could easily afford to pay for (nothing wrong in that, why not?) then maybe in this case give it up.

If I really needed it, then no. I'd say that I would prefer to collect it as agreed,
tbh, people will say anything on those freebie sites and I wouldn't assume that because someone SAYS it's for charity, that it actually is.
