School swimming lessons

I am in the middle of writing a blog on the subject of school swimming lessons vs. private ones. At the moment, it is extremely pro private and I was hoping that some people might have some input to either side of the argument!

School swimming lessons are the only way of reaching all school children. School lessons were introduced because not all parents can get their kids to lessons and swimming is a lifesaver. One is individual the other is "civic" for want of a better word.

So why is it 51% of all primary school children are leaving primary education unable to swim? The whole swimming at school system is broken and needs to be revisited.

School swimming an absolute god send for quiet, shy children who will not leave their mother's side so young ie will not join in when taken to classes! It was just seen as another sçhool lesson.perfect!
